HISTORY

Numerous Commonwealth medals and National titles in pistol and rifle won by members who have their home sport shooting clubs at the National Shooting Complex. This sport shooting complex which was opened in 1989 in preparation for the 1990 Commonwealth Games is only one of a few shooting facilities in New Zealand to cater for the many disciplines of shooting sports - if you have a sporting rifle or pistol, this is the venue to belong to, compete at and make your home club.

Well it was, we have for the last 19 years enjoyed a partnership using the Defence Force land with Armed Forces, our lease has expired and we have to develop a replacement Shooting Complex.

Across the board all sport shooting clubs in New Zealand have had increased membership and participation.

It may having something to do with the success of shooting sports at Commonwealth games, having had 43 shooting medals in the last 6 games

We are now looking to expand, we feel the interest in competitive shooting and the population of greater Auckland will easily cater for more than one new shooting facility

We have a group of experienced competitive shooters from all sport shooting disciplines looking at options and wanting your help to increase the number of sport shooting range facilities, from our combined knowledge we feel that there are many options from using an existing factory, designing and building a basement type range (tennis court on top?) or even aligning our selves with another sport for an airgun facilities, (racket club)

We are considering land that may cater for multi disciplined venues bringing together all sport shooting (including archery) with the dream of having all world recognised shooting sports represented by grade and club shooters to Olympic and Commonwealth level, juniors and adults.
